Redesigning the payment experience for a banking app

Redesigned and optimized the user experience for a mobile banking app, focusing on improving usability, accessibility, and overall customer satisfaction. Conducted research, identified pain points, and proposed strategic design solutions to streamline user flows and enhance digital banking interactions.

Primary Screens

The 5 primary screens are: Home, Transfers, Cards, Account and More.

The design follows a modern, clean, and intuitive layout, ensuring ease of navigation for users.

Home Screen: Quick access to account balance, recent transactions, and key actions.

Transfer Funds: Various options, including bank transfers, bill payments, and prepaid top-ups.

Cards Section: Displays available debit/credit cards and transaction history.

My Account: Users can update their personal details, passwords, and connected devices.

Settings and More: Access to policies, loans, deposits, and customer support.

Optimizing the payment journey

My focus in this project was to enhance the payment process, ensuring a smoother and more intuitive experience for users. As a result, not all features in the prototype are fully functional. Priority was given to refining the payment flow and interactions to create a seamless and engaging experience.

Types of Payments

The payment process is designed to be seamless and intuitive, offering multiple transfer options to suit different user needs

Transfers Within My Accounts: Quick and easy movement of funds between personal accounts.

AJIB Customer Transfers: Sending money to other AJIB users with saved contacts for convenience.

Domestic Transfers: Secure transactions to external bank accounts within Jordan.

International Transfers: A streamlined process for sending money abroad with destination selection.

Bill Payments: A centralized hub for managing and paying upcoming bills with clear due date tracking.

Critical Review

A comparative analysis of the before-and-after UI designs of a mobile banking app. Focused on visual hierarchy, typography, color schemes, and overall interface consistency to highlight improvements in aesthetics and user clarity.

Visual Hierarchy and Layout

While the original app has dense sections stacked together without proper spacing, the new design uses better white space and alignment, making it easier to scan.

The new design also improves text contrast, making key information easier to read.

Key actions are placed on the home screen for quick access.

Navigation and User Flow

While the original app requires users to navigate multiple screens to complete frequent transactions, the new design improves this by structuring transfers and bill payments more logically.

Types of transfers are grouped making it easier to be located.

Payments and Transfers Experience

While the original app lists recipients in plain text, the new design includes visual elements, such as profile icons, making transfers feel more intuitive.

Bill due dates are highlighted clearly, helping users stay on top of payments.
